Blessings

I’ve been thinking…

…about blessings.

A thought in my mind — and heart — when I write books for children is that they will have some positive impact in the lives of young readers and their adult reading partners. I’ve shared in this space some stories of how children have reacted to the books, which certainly made my heart smile.

But this one is very special.   I share it here as it came to me…

Hi  Joan,

I didn’t suspect that I’d be in touch again so soon, but I must share today’s story as I am filled with so many BIG feelings as a result.

My 3 grandchildren were in a car accident today while being driven by their other grandmother (someone ran a red light). The car was totaled but everyone is fine, thank the Lord.

Once the family was reunited and Daddy and Mommy were driving them home, their daddy referred to your book — Little Children, BIG Feelings —that they had read before bed on Sunday and again last night. They all thought of words to describe how they felt. There were many words that were shared including “relieved” and “grateful.”

Today, you should know that your book was used to guide a sweet, frightened, very grateful family back home where they were safe and loved so deeply.

Love,

A very relieved and grateful Nana

Many blessings, indeed.
