Meeting New Friends
I’ve been thinking about…
…the joy of meeting new friends.
We all have friends from different walks in our lives. Friends from church. Friends from our school days. Friends from work. Friends from our children’s school days.
And then we meet friends through the interests we have — like golfing!
One of the delights with this new venture is that I have reconnected with old friends — like Pam Teel at the Millstone Times who wrote a lovely article about my book adventures. (Read the article here!)
Then recently on a trip to see family, I met Sally Gupton who is an extraordinarily talented photographer. She took the photos of John and Jake that wonderful Jo Ann will turn into illustrations for the upcoming grandparent books. (Yes! Including YOUR grandparent names that you sent in!)
On the return trip home, we visited daughter Jayne where we were honored to sign books for Jennifer, Charlie and Will. This lovely family is friends with Jayne’s family — and now I call them friends, too!
Friends are essential, aren’t they? In Today Cara Goes to Kindergarten, Cara’s gravest concern is that she won’t have friends in this new school. But with her mommy’s gentle support, Cara remembers, “Be a friend to have a friend.”
My intent is to extend friendship to readers who will find joy through the books.
What I am finding in return is that I have such good friends on this walk with me.
Thank you, Friends.
