Weddings

I’ve been thinking about…

…weddings!

Huge heartfelt congratulations to our delightfully charming nephew Patrick and his beautiful sweetheart of a wife Reilly!

Reilly is the talented wizard who manages this website and my social media “stuff.”  I literally could not do any of this without her.  Now I am — officially — her “Aunt Joan” and could not be happier for the new Mr. and Mrs. Ruddiman.

They planned the most wonderful wedding!  It was picture-perfect.  The venue was an elegant “farm” with beautiful gardens.  The weather was quite amazing with a stormy morning that cleared in time for the lovely outdoor ceremony and got sunnier as the day progressed. It was perfect for the little ones to enjoy the planned games and their own fun in the open “barn” and on the beautiful lawns.

It was a wedding with fun music, dancing, sweet and funny speeches, great food —they had me with the dessert table that was open first! It was a wonderful “grown-up” wedding.

BUT!  It was ALL kid friendly!  A mid-day wedding allowed the little ones to fully participate without wearing out.  Their meals were brought out first — that is so thoughtful!  And the dessert table with fabulous “cake pops,” brownies, cookies… that was stuff dreams are made of!  But the best was the “gift box” that each child had at his or her seat filled with treats, toys, and the best of all — a camera!

The disposable cameras came with an “I Spy Challenge” — Wedding Photo Scavenger Hunt!”

This was such a clever idea that we are sharing it on the Activity page!!! Don’t miss it!

So often we think that children and weddings are incompatible.  But kudos to Patrick and Reilly for having an elegant, lovely traditional wedding that was enjoyed by those from 1 to (close to!) 100.
